Conductor, Freight and Passenger
The Everett Railroad Company, a full-service, customer-oriented shortline and tourist railroad, is currently accepting applications for a full time Freight and Passenger Conductor. The primary job duty for this position is freight railroad conductor. The successful applicant must:
- Be willing and able to work shifts of up to 12 hours
- Work outside in all weather conditions
- Be physically able to walk long distances as well as climb ladders and ride railcars
- Maintain mental alertness and situational awareness
- Ensure compliance with railroad operating rules, federal rules as well as specific job instructions
- Be able to read and understand written and verbal instruction
The successful applicant will be required to perform service as a passenger conductor on the railroad’s tourist trains. The passenger conductor will be required to work weekends and evenings when necessary to meet the passenger train schedule. The passenger conductor must be well groomed and physically presentable. The successful applicant will be outgoing, possess strong people skills as well as the ability and enthusiasm to interact with guests riding company passenger trains.
As conductor duties will often not fill out a 40 hour work week, service as a Track Worker will be required. The applicant must be willing and able to perform heavy physical labor associated with the maintenance of railroad track. Including but not limited to: repeated lifting of heavy tools and parts, using large hammers and wrenches, operation of heavy machinery, and working as part of a group to safely complete projects.
